What kind of businesses is PARCO engaged in

A:

We are a company that develops and manages urban shopping complexes. We employ “Total Producing Ability” which incorporates our wide-ranging expertise in the fields of marketing, planning, designing and management/operation of shopping complexes. From the perspective of town design, we integrate the operation of each of PARCO’s stores—which are located throughout 19 cities in Japan-with its various entertainment-related business. In addition, in recent years, we have been engaged in consulting and property management, in which we provide other companies with know-how on the development and operation of shopping complexes, based on our experience as an urban shopping complexes developer.

Q:

Please tell me the origins of the PARCO corporate name.

A:

“PARCO,” the corporate name, means “park” in Italian. A park is a place (or space) where lots of people can gather, where people can share time and space, and where people can relax and have fun. That’s also what "PARCO" is.

Please tell me the distinctive aspects of PARCO’s business operations and all the areas of its activities.

A:

The company group (PARCO Network companies) is engaged in four major areas of business:

1.Shopping Complex business Development and management of urban shopping complexes and consulting and property management on various facets of their operation
2.Retail Business Development of unique specialty stores selling specialized products, such as watches, eyeglasses, sundry articles or cosmetics.
3.Space Engineering and Management Business Space design and facility management, which involve equipment, interior construction and design, cleaning and security for shopping complexes
4.Other Business Web consulting business and entertainment business

Please tell me your approach to corporate governance.

A:

The company established a highly transparent corporate governance system, following approval at the regular general meeting of Shareholders on May 24, 2003. This involved the adoption of the “Company with nominating committee, etc” and the creation of a clearer separation between the decision-making and supervisory functions and the executive functions.

3.Questions about business performance and accounting

Q:

Please tell me when your accounting term ends and when you announce your financial results.

A:

Our accounting period ends on the last day of February. The interim closing date is the last day of August. Each announcement of financial results is made according to the schedule below. A more detailed schedule can be seen on the IR Calendar as the data and information become available.

For example:
For changes of address, registered seal or method of receiving dividend payments, please send a form reporting the changes plus a stock ownership form to the headquarters or branch of The Sumitomo Trust & Banking Co., Ltd.

The procedures can also be done through your securities company. No charges apply in either case.

How should I dispose of odd lots of stocks (amounts under 100)?

A:

An application requesting the purchase of odd lots is necessary. Fill out the required information on the form, include your stock certificate, and submit these to either the securities division of The Sumitomto Trust & Banking Co. or any of its branches. (A stock certificate is not required if one was never issued.)

Q:

Please tell me about your shareholders’ meetings. Also, what conditions apply to voting rights at the shareholders’ meetings?

A:

Our company’s annual shareholders’ meetings take place every year in late May. To obtain voting rights at the meetings, you must have been a registered shareholder as of the last day of February (or be on the list of bona-fide shareholders). To become registered, it is necessary for you to have owned at least one unit of stock (100 shares) issued by our company as of the fourth business day before the last day of February (a business day of The Sumitomo Trust & Banking Co., which is the agent for the registration lists.)

Q:

Do you hold shareholders’ roundtables and other such events? Do people living in regional areas have the opportunity to meet with your managers?

A:

Roundtables and other such events are currently not being held either in Tokyo or regions outside the capital. However, we would greatly appreciate hearing opinions on the company's management from all our stockowners during our shareholders’ meetings.
